The ASCC believes the world-class quality of Australian stem cell and regenerative medicine research will in time deliver an improvement in current health care for millions of people that suffer from debilitating disease.
This is the fundamental goal of the many people that work for and with the Australian Stem Cell Centre (ASCC), and it is this desire, to improve people’s lives, that inspires and motivates each of us.
During the past two years, the ASCC has undertaken a broad assessment process to identify and fund Australian research projects of excellence in our dedicated areas of research.
The ASCC currently has 16 research projects in progress across a range of four platform technologies combined with therapeutic programs in haematology and cardiac disease and a pilot program in respiratory disease. Haematology is currently the most comprehensive of these programs and in the very near term will comprise several projects in multiple institutes and states. This program represents a cross-disciplinary, multi-institution approach to creating a new paradigm in the supply of blood products such as red blood cells and platelets.
